By default Claude asks whether it may use a Hyre tool. That's safe, but it slows you down. With a few settings you switch off the questions where you can, and keep control where it counts.
Before you start
Hyre is connected to Claude. See Connect Hyre to Claude.
Step by step
In Claude, open Customize › Connectors and click Hyre.
Find Tool permissions. Claude groups the tools, for example read-only tools and write/delete tools.
Set the read-only tools (and the interactive tools, if listed) to Always allow. They only read data, such as your email, meetings and calendar. Nothing can go wrong there.
Keep the write/delete tools on Needs approval at first. They change something, for example in your ATS, CRM or calendar, or prepare a campaign. Claude then asks before every change.
Been working with Hyre for a few weeks and it goes well? Set write tools to Always allow one at a time, starting with the ones you use most.
Which tools can safely be on Always allow?
All tools that only read.
Tools that only act inside Hyre and not in your ATS: for example giving feedback, creating a task, saving your tone of voice, preparing a draft and looking up a phone number. A draft is never sent on its own: you send it.
Why not put everything on Always allow?
"You do want some control over what goes into your ATS." If an AI assistant misunderstands something and may do anything without asking, everything goes wrong. With approval on the write tools, you glance over it before anything in your ATS changes. That's called human in the loop.
Hyre also has its own safety net: the AI write limit. A user with the Employee role can make at most 50 changes a day to your ATS and CRM through the AI assistant. See How Hyre works with your ATS or CRM.
Good to know
Routines and scheduled tasks get stuck when they wait for a question nobody answers. For routines, at least set the read tools to Always allow.
A lock on a tool? You're in a Claude Team or Enterprise organization and the Owner controls those permissions. See Add Hyre to Claude Team or Enterprise.
Cowork has its own setting the Owner must switch on, otherwise Cowork asks again for write tools in every task.
After a new Hyre release, Claude may occasionally ask permission again for a tool that changed.
With the right permissions you can run several tasks at once without Claude stopping all the time.
