Frequently asked questions from new users

Short answers to the questions we hear in every onboarding, from Claude and the mobile app to privacy.

The questions we get in almost every onboarding, with a short answer and a link to the full explanation.

Do I have to use Claude?

Hyre works with Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, but we strongly recommend Claude. The connection between Hyre and your assistant (MCP) works best in Claude: it fetches the right data and gives better results. You choose your assistant under Settings › Profile. See What is MCP and why Claude?.

Which Claude plan do I need?

At least Pro. The free plan gets stuck after a few messages and cannot schedule routines. For a team, Team is handy for central management. Everyone has their own account: one Claude account belongs to one Hyre account. You subscribe to Claude yourself, with Anthropic.

Is there an app for my phone?

You install Hyre from your browser onto your home screen, no App Store needed. See Install Hyre on your computer and phone.

Does Hyre record all my phone calls?

No. Hyre only records calls you make through Call in Hyre, or where you add the Hyre notetaker number yourself. If you just call from your own phone, Hyre hears nothing.

What does Hyre see and not see?

Hyre only sees the channels you connect yourself: your work mailbox, LinkedIn messages, WhatsApp if you connect it, and meetings the notetaker attends. Meetings without the notetaker, and calls you do not make through Hyre, stay private. Don't want a meeting recorded? Switch on Don't record for that event in your calendar. See Privacy and your data.

Can colleagues read my conversations?

No. Conversations are personal unless you share one. Contact details are shared within your organisation, so everyone works with the same contact.

Do I need to check everything the AI writes?

At first, yes. The AI always asks for your approval before it writes to your ATS or sends something. Read what it says and answer what it asks. Once you see it gets things right, switch to spot checks.

Can I keep working in Outlook, Gmail or LinkedIn?

Yes, everything syncs with Hyre. Still, it is best to work from Hyre: then your routines, such as Start je dag, see what you already did. Phone transcripts only exist in Hyre.

Does Hyre write to my ATS on its own?

No. Hyre reads from your ATS automatically, but only writes when you or your assistant ask for it, for example with an action or the ATS- & CRM-sync. See How Hyre works with your ATS or CRM.

Does Hyre work without an ATS, or before the connection is ready?

Yes. Just start recording: summaries, recap emails, tasks and LinkedIn all work without an ATS. Your conversations stay in Hyre and you write them up once your ATS is connected.

Is Hyre available in English?

The app itself is in English. This help center is in Dutch and English, the academy videos are in Dutch. Conversations are transcribed in ten languages, including Dutch and English, also when you switch within one conversation.

Can I use a LinkedIn tool like lemlist or Dripify next to Hyre?

Better not. Two tools acting on your LinkedIn account at the same time count their limits separately. That raises the risk of a warning from LinkedIn. See Outreach explained.
