What you see
You click an agent or routine in Hyre, and a claude.ai tab opens in your browser, while you have the Claude app on your computer.
Why this happens
Hyre first tries to open the Claude app. If the app doesn't respond within a second and a half, Hyre opens claude.ai in your browser. That happens when: 1. Always open claude.ai is on under Settings › Profile. 2. Your Ask AI client isn't set to Claude, but for example to ChatGPT, or it follows your organization's choice. 3. The Claude app isn't on this computer, or you're on a computer that isn't a Mac or Windows PC. 4. Your browser asked "Open Claude?" and you clicked cancel, or didn't respond quickly enough. 5. An earlier attempt didn't find the app. Your browser then remembers that for a day and goes straight to claude.ai.
How to fix it
Install the Claude app for Mac or Windows and sign in with the same Claude account as in your browser.
In Hyre, go to Settings › Profile. Under Ask AI client, pick the Claude card and turn off Always open claude.ai. Click Save.
Click an agent again. If your browser asks whether it may open Claude, tick "always allow" (if your browser offers it) and click Open.
Still opens in the browser? Your browser may have remembered that the app wasn't there. Try again tomorrow, or refresh Hyre and click once more.
Hyre connector not working in the app? It's the same connector as on claude.ai. See Hyre stopped working in Claude.
Is it working again?
A click on an agent opens the Claude app with the agent ready to start.
Prevent it
Keep the Claude app running in the background.
Routines that run on a schedule only work in the Claude app on your computer, with a paid Claude account.
