Set up fields and the Hyre profile field

Choose which ATS fields Hyre shows and fills, and create the Hyre profile field for an always up-to-date summary per candidate.

Written by Wijnand Karsens

Under Fields you decide which fields from your ATS or CRM Hyre shows and which ones the AI assistant may fill. Fewer fields means better results.

Before you start

  • You are an owner, admin or manager. Employees can't open this page.

  • Your ATS or CRM is connected. See Connect your ATS or CRM.

Step by step

  1. Go to Settings › Fields, or click ⋯ › Fields next to your connection under Integrations.

The Fields page with the fields of a connected ATS
  2. Pick the connection at the top. If one system is both your ATS and CRM, you see two tabs, for example "Bullhorn (ATS)" and "Bullhorn (CRM)".

  3. Choose Candidates or Contacts.

  4. At the top is Shown in Hyre: the fields Hyre already shows. Fields with a lock are always on: required fields in your ATS, the fields Hyre reads name, email, phone, LinkedIn, title, employer and location from, and fields with a fixed role such as availability, notice period and salary.

  5. Under Standard fields and Custom fields, find the fields your team really uses and tick Show in Hyre. A tick saves right away.

  6. Do the same for Contacts.

The Hyre profile field

Hyre keeps a short summary per candidate and per contact, updated after every conversation. It goes into a field in your ATS that you create yourself. 1. In your ATS, create a long text field called Hyre profile, on candidates and on contacts. It must hold at least 2,000 characters. 2. In Hyre, click Refresh on Fields. 3. The Hyre profile row is at the bottom of Shown in Hyre. An orange label means something is still off: - not in this connection: the field doesn't exist in your ATS yet. - needs a change: the field is too short, not a text field, or two fields have that name. - not checked: Hyre hasn't read the fields yet. Click Refresh. 4. Using Salesforce, Byner or MySolution? Hyre can create the field for you with Create it for me.

A bonus: if you ever stop using Hyre, the summary is still in your own ATS.

Good to know

  • Start small. An ATS often has hundreds of fields. Only switch on what your team actually fills in. The more fields, the harder the AI has to work. After two weeks, check which fields you miss.

  • New field in your ATS? Hyre reads fields once a day. To see it straight away, click Refresh. New fields get a new label.

  • The percentage on the right is how often that field is filled in your ATS.

  • Choice fields (dropdowns): hover over the type to see the options. Hyre only fills in options your ATS knows.

  • Owner fields (owner, created by, recruiter) are not in the list. Hyre always sets the recruiter who asks as the owner. See Record owners and the default owner.

  • Agree on how you write. If everyone fills the same fields the same way, a colleague can take over your candidate easily.

  • Switching a field on or off applies to the whole organization, and to every connected system that has the same field.
