Roles and permissions: Owner, Manager and Employee

What each role in Hyre can do, in one table, and how to change a colleague's role.

Written by Robin Alcedo Overbosch

Everyone in your organisation has one of three roles. The role decides what someone can manage, not what they can do in their own work: recording, the Inbox, agents and campaigns work the same for everyone.

The three roles

  • Owner: manages the organisation, the connections and the subscription. Usually the owner, director or a dedicated admin.

  • Manager: leads a team. Can invite colleagues and manage fields and organisation settings for the team, but not the subscription, and cannot disconnect connections.

  • Employee: the recruiter. Works with Hyre and manages only their own account. In onboarding this role is called Recruiter.

Change a colleague's role

  1. Go to Settings › Organization Members.

  2. Click the three dots next to your colleague › Change Role.

  3. Pick the new role and confirm.

Good to know

  • Nobody changes their own role. Ask another owner.

  • The last owner of an organisation with other members cannot be removed or demoted. Make someone else owner first.

  • Conversations are personal. An owner or manager does not see a colleague's conversations either, unless that colleague shares them. Contacts are shared within the organisation.

  • A team grants no extra rights. It only decides which colleagues a manager sees. See Create teams.

  • Discipline is not a role. Recruiter 180, Recruiter 360 or Sales under Settings › Profile describes your work and grants no rights.
