LinkedIn limits and safe use

Hyre's daily limits (recommended and maximum), your working window, what LinkedIn itself allows and how to keep your account healthy.

Written by Robin Alcedo Overbosch

Hyre sends your outreach at a calm, human pace and keeps you under fixed daily limits. That lowers the chance that LinkedIn restricts your account. Here are the limits and how to set them.

First, honestly: what LinkedIn itself says

  • LinkedIn publishes no fixed numbers. What you may do differs per account: age, network size, acceptance rate and earlier warnings all count. What you read below are Hyre's limits, not LinkedIn's.

  • Everyone has a limit on connection requests, free and paid. In practice it sits somewhere between 100 and 200 a week for most accounts. Reach it, and you usually can't send requests for about a week. Withdrawing pending requests does not lift that block.

  • LinkedIn does not allow automation in its user agreement. Every tool therefore carries some risk. Hyre's limits reduce that risk, but can't remove it.

  • LinkedIn mainly looks at behaviour: sudden spikes, many pending requests, low acceptance, logging in from different countries and several tools at once.

Hyre's daily limits

You set them in Outreach › Settings (top right). Each slider is green up to the recommended number, amber above it and red at the maximum.

  • A new account starts at the recommended values, with 100 messages a day.

  • Set a slider above the recommended number and you see: "Above the recommended 20 a day. Higher volume raises the risk to your LinkedIn account." At the maximum: "40 a day is the most Hyre sends. LinkedIn may restrict you."

  • Hyre never sends more than the maximum, even if you enter more.

  • InMails and Sales Navigator imports only show when you have connected a Sales Navigator or Recruiter seat. The Recruiter import limit is fixed.

Shared by all your campaigns

The limits and the working window apply to your whole LinkedIn account, not per campaign. With 20 requests a day and 2 campaigns, each campaign gets about 10. More campaigns doesn't mean more requests. You can run at most 5 campaigns at a time.

Your working window

Also under Outreach › Settings: the time zone, the days and the hours in which Hyre may send. By default that is Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, time zone Europe/Amsterdam. Outside that window nothing happens, weekends included. Within the window Hyre spreads actions over the day rather than sending them all at once. A short window can mean you don't reach your daily limit.

Keep your account healthy

  • Start slowly. Stay at or below the recommended values for the first weeks. Only go up to a maximum of 40 requests a day with a warmed-up account that has run campaigns for a while without warnings. New or long-quiet account? See Warm up a new or quiet LinkedIn account.

  • Target well. An acceptance rate above 30% is healthy, around 20% is a sign to improve your list or note, below 10% is risky. You see it in Stats.

  • Clean up pending requests. Turn on Withdraw the invite if ignored, for example after 15 to 20 days.

  • Your own manual work counts too. If you also send requests on LinkedIn yourself, LinkedIn counts them. Hyre doesn't see them. Lower your limits in that case.

  • One tool per account. Don't use other LinkedIn automation next to Hyre.

  • Stay logged in from your own country. A VPN to another country can make LinkedIn suspicious and break your connection.

  • No spikes. Raise limits step by step, not all at once.

  • Got a warning from LinkedIn? Follow LinkedIn warning or restriction: what now?.

Good to know

  • A note on a request needs a paid account. According to LinkedIn, a free account can only add a note to a few requests a month; send requests without a note there and follow up after acceptance.

  • InMail credits are limited per month and differ per plan. A credit comes back when someone responds within 90 days.
