Bullhorn wants every integration to have its own API user, client ID, client secret and an approved redirect URI. Only Bullhorn Support can set the redirect URI. With one request to Bullhorn you sort it all out at once.
Before you start
You are an admin in Bullhorn, or you have someone who is.
In Hyre the card is called Bullhorn / CONEXYS. CONEXYS has fully moved to Bullhorn, so this article also applies if you used to have CONEXYS.
Anyone in Hyre can make the connection. An owner or admin chooses the write target.
Step by step
1. Ask Bullhorn Support for an API user and the redirect URI
Open a ticket with Bullhorn Support. A ticket works better than calling. Call it an internal project, not a third-party vendor integration. You can use this text:
``` Hello Bullhorn Support,
For an internal project we need REST API access to our Bullhorn environment.
Could you please: 1. Create a dedicated API user for this integration, with a Client ID and a Client Secret. 2. Set the redirect URI for this API user to: https://api.unified.to/oauth/code
Please send the credentials through a secure channel.
Thank you! ```
Already have an API user? Then only ask for the redirect URI:
Please update the redirect URI for our Bullhorn API user to the following redirect URI: https://api.unified.to/oauth/code
2. Wait for Bullhorn's confirmation
Bullhorn makes the change itself. Neither you nor we can set it. Bullhorn sends you the Client ID, the Client Secret and the API user details, plus a confirmation that the redirect URI was changed.
3. Connect Bullhorn in Hyre
Go to Settings › Integrations, find Bullhorn / CONEXYS and click Connect.
Fill in the details from Bullhorn and continue.
Sign in to Bullhorn with the API user and click Authorize. Make sure you are signed in to Bullhorn in the same browser.
Owner or admin: make Bullhorn the write target with ⋯ › Make ATS write target. Bullhorn is both ATS and CRM, so also choose Make CRM write target.
In Bullhorn, create a long text field Hyre profile on candidates and contacts, then click Refresh in Hyre under Settings › Fields. See Set up fields.
Step 3 not working? Send us a message through Helpdesk. Never send the client secret by email or chat: we'll set up a short session to finish it together.
What Hyre writes to Bullhorn
One Note per conversation, visible on every candidate and contact in that conversation. The note's action is the one from your own action list that fits the kind of conversation, never a pipeline step such as CV sent or placement.
A meeting or intake with a start and end time also becomes an Appointment with all participants. No invitation goes out.
Fields such as salary, availability and notice period, if they are switched on in Hyre.
Good to know
You do this once per API user. If you create a new API user later, go through these steps again.
How fast does Bullhorn data reach Hyre? A new candidate or contact shows up within about an hour. A change to an existing candidate or contact can take up to a week. Jobs and applications update every hour. This is because of the monthly API quota Bullhorn sets per customer.
Files (such as CVs) are fetched when someone opens them, to save that same quota.
Creating a contact fails? Often there is a required field in Bullhorn that Hyre can't fill. Check which fields are required, or switch them on under Settings › Fields.
Notes land under the recruiter's name when their email address in Bullhorn matches their Hyre login. See Record owners and the default owner.
