Connecting LinkedIn doesn't work

You click Connect LinkedIn or Reconnect and nothing happens, or you get an error? Here's how to get the Chrome extension working.

What you see

  • You click Connect LinkedIn or Reconnect and nothing happens.

  • The extension doesn't open, or you don't see it in your browser.

  • You get an error in the extension, for example that no seat was found.

Why this happens

LinkedIn connects through the Chrome extension Hyre AI Connector. It reads your LinkedIn session from your browser and hands it to Hyre. That fails when: - you use a browser other than Chrome or Edge (for example Safari or Firefox); - the extension isn't installed, is turned off or isn't pinned; - you aren't logged in to LinkedIn in this browser, or you are in a different browser profile than Hyre; - LinkedIn is still waiting for a verification; - you want to connect Sales Navigator or Recruiter without having it open in this browser.

How to fix it

  1. Open Hyre in Chrome or the latest version of Edge.

  2. Install the extension via Settings › Channels › Connect LinkedIn › Install extension, and click Add to Chrome in the Chrome Web Store.

  3. Pin the extension: click the puzzle icon at the top right of your browser and click the pin next to Hyre AI Connector.

  4. Log in to LinkedIn in another tab of the same browser and profile. Complete any verification.

  5. Refresh the Hyre page and click Connect LinkedIn (or Open extension) again. In the extension, click Connect LinkedIn, Connect Premium LinkedIn or Reconnect.

  6. An error shows afterwards while the card does say Connected? You can dismiss it.

  7. Sales Navigator or Recruiter: first open a tab with Sales Navigator or LinkedIn Recruiter, logged in. Then click Connect Sales Navigator / Recruiter on the Sales Navigator / Recruiter card. A message that no seat was found? Refresh the Recruiter tab and try again.

Is it working again?

  • The LinkedIn card under Settings › Channels shows your name and Standard or Premium.

  • Then Syncing conversations appears: Hyre is fetching your LinkedIn conversations. That can take a while.

Prevent it

  • Use Hyre and LinkedIn in the same Chrome profile.

  • Keep the extension switched on.

  • Working in a colleague's Hyre account for a while? Don't activate the LinkedIn extension there, or you link your LinkedIn to their account.
