Don't record a meeting

Keep the notetaker out of one meeting with Don't record in your calendar. Useful when a candidate or client prefers not to be recorded.

Written by Robin Alcedo Overbosch

By default the notetaker joins your online meetings. Someone prefers not to be recorded? Turn on Don't record for that one meeting.

Before you start

  • The meeting is in your connected calendar and has a meeting link (Teams or Google Meet).

  • The meeting hasn't ended yet.

Step by step

  1. Go to Calendar and click the meeting.

An open event with the Don't record button
  2. Click Don't record.

  3. In the Agenda view the meeting gets the label Not recorded, and on the grid a crossed-out camera icon. The notetaker won't join.

Good to know

  • Don't record applies to one meeting. Never want the notetaker automatically? Turn off Join my meetings automatically under Settings › Notetaker. Then you only add it when you choose to, with Add Notetaker.

  • Without a meeting link in the event, the notetaker doesn't join anyway.

  • Your calendar also shows for upcoming meetings whether the notetaker will join.

  • Always let the other person know you're recording. The notetaker posts a message in the chat when it joins.
