A few keys let you work through your inbox without a mouse. Press ? in the inbox to open the shortcut list.
Before you start
Click in the conversation list first (not in a text box), or you will just type the letters.
The shortcuts
Key | What it does |
j or ↓ | Next conversation |
k or ↑ | Previous conversation |
Enter | Open conversation |
Esc | Close (first the shortcut window, then a menu, then the conversation) |
e | Archive (or restore when you are in Archived) |
u | Mark as unread |
s | Star or unstar |
v | Move to a folder |
t | Create task |
⌘ Enter (Mac) or Ctrl Enter (Windows) | Send the message from the reply box |
? | Show or hide shortcuts |
Good to know
Shortcuts do not work while the Drafts or My network folder is open, because there is no conversation list there.
In a menu or dropdown the arrows and letters drive that menu, not the list.
In Conversations too, ? opens the shortcuts. t creates a task on the open conversation there.
Tasks has its own shortcuts. Press ? there.
