The unified inbox: email, LinkedIn, InMail and WhatsApp

All your messages in one place. How the folder column, search, campaign filter, star, archive and My network work.

Written by Robin Alcedo Overbosch

The Inbox holds your email, LinkedIn messages, InMails and WhatsApp chats together. You read and answer everything from Hyre, and log conversations to your ATS. Work from Hyre, or you miss data.

Before you start

  • Your channels are connected under Settings › Channels: your mailbox (Gmail or Outlook), LinkedIn through the Chrome extension and optionally WhatsApp.

  • After connecting LinkedIn, the conversations of the last 30 days arrive within minutes. Older ones follow over the next days. A notice above your list says so while it runs. Do not disconnect LinkedIn in that time, or the import stops.

The folder column

Click Inbox in the sidebar. On the left you see:

The Inbox with folders per channel

- Compose: write a new message by email, LinkedIn or WhatsApp. - Draft Agent: let your AI assistant prepare draft replies. See Draft replies from the Draft Agent. - All messages: everything together. - LinkedIn: Inbox, Awaiting reply (you wrote last), Recently accepted (people who just accepted your connection request), My network (accept or ignore pending connection requests) and Drafts. - InMail: Inbox and Awaiting reply. - WhatsApp: Inbox, Awaiting reply and Drafts. - Per mailbox: Inbox, Sent, Drafts, and under More your own Gmail or Outlook folders. Drag a conversation onto a folder to move it.

The list

  • Tabs All, Unread, Starred and Archived.

  • Search: by name, subject or text. Search also finds archived and sent conversations.

  • Campaign (LinkedIn only): filter by campaign, or by Not in campaign. Hover over a conversation to see which campaign the person is in.

  • A new connection gets an Accepted label.

Opening a conversation

Click a conversation. At the top are the name, Campaigns (on LinkedIn), Call, Agents and ⋯ with: - Create Task, Create memo, Move to…, Star, Mark as unread, Archive and Delete from Hyre.

On the right is the Profile panel: choose whether the person is a Candidate or Contact, add email, phone and LinkedIn, and see whether they are already in your ATS or CRM. Email addresses and phone numbers found in a message can be added in one click.

Good to know

  • Archiving in Hyre also archives in Gmail or Outlook. On LinkedIn, Hyre archives in LinkedIn too, but unarchiving only happens in Hyre.

  • The star belongs to Hyre and does not change your Gmail star or Outlook flag. On WhatsApp a star also pins the chat (WhatsApp allows three pins).

  • Delete from Hyre removes the conversation from Hyre but leaves it in your mailbox. This cannot be undone.

  • What you delete in Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn or WhatsApp also disappears from Hyre.

  • Folders always show as Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Junk and Trash, whatever your mailbox language.

  • On your phone the folder column sits behind the folder button.

  • What the inbox cannot do (yet): see What the inbox cannot do.
