Recording or typing memos

Capture a conversation that was not recorded with a spoken or typed memo, and log it to your ATS.

Written by Robin Alcedo Overbosch

Had a conversation without a recording, like a coffee or a call on your own phone? Record a memo right after. That conversation then also ends up in your ATS.

Before you start

  • A laptop or the Hyre app on your phone, with a working microphone.

Step by step

  1. Click Record in the sidebar.

  2. Do not pick an event under Link a meeting from today. Without an event, your recording becomes a memo.

  3. Under Add the people in the room, add the person the memo is about if you know them. You can also do this later.

  4. Give the memo a title in Title (optional), for example "Coffee with candidate, Utrecht".

  5. Choose how to make it:

    • Record: click Start recording and say who you spoke to, what you discussed and the next step. Then click Stop and save.

    • Write: type your memo and click Save memo. Slower, but handy on the train.

  6. The memo appears in Conversations › Memos.

    The Memos tab in Conversations
  7. Open the memo, link the right candidate or contact in Profile and log it like any other conversation: see Logging a conversation to your ATS or CRM.

A memo on an existing conversation

Want to add something to a conversation that is already in Hyre? Open it and choose Create memo in the ⋯ menu. The memo is linked to that conversation, with the same people and the same date. Only the owner of the conversation can do this.

Good to know

  • Memo or recording? Hyre decides after transcription: a recording with one speaker becomes a memo, with more speakers it becomes an in-person conversation.

  • Without a linked person Hyre cannot log the memo. Always link a candidate or contact first.

  • A typed memo gets no summary. What you type is the note. At most 20,000 characters.

  • Shorter than 5 seconds is not saved.

  • On your phone the recording stops when you leave the app. Hyre keeps what it captured until then.
