Hyre is a web app at app.hyre.io. You can install it so it opens like a regular app: with its own icon, in its own window, separate from your browser tabs. On your phone you can then call and record conversations without opening your laptop.
Before you start
On your computer: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
On your phone: the camera to scan a QR code.
There is no app in the App Store or Google Play. You install through your browser.
On your computer
Open Hyre in Chrome or Edge.
See a bar at the top saying "Install Hyre as an app"? Click Install and confirm in your browser.
No bar? Use the install icon on the right of the address bar, or your browser menu (in Chrome: Cast, save and share › Install page as app, in Edge: Apps › Install this site as an app).
Hyre opens in its own window. From now on you find it in your Dock, Launchpad or Start menu.
Closed the bar? It comes back after 30 days. You can always install through the browser menu.
On your phone
On your computer, go to Settings › Channels and scroll to Apps & Extensions. The Hyre app card shows a QR code. (Onboarding showed you the same code.)
Open your phone's camera, point it at the code and tap the link.
Follow the steps on your screen:
iPhone: tap Share at the bottom (the square with an arrow), scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen and then Add.
Android: tap Add Hyre to my home screen. If nothing happens, open your browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
Open Hyre from your home screen and sign in.
Lost the steps? They are always at app.hyre.io/install.
Good to know
On your phone you see five buttons at the bottom: Call, Record, Agents, Ask AI and your account. Handy for a call or a memo between appointments.
Long conversations work better on your laptop. On a phone the recording can stop when the screen turns off or another call comes in. For an interview or screening, use your laptop with a headset.
To record phone calls you use the Hyre notetaker number. Save it in your contacts. See Connect your phone number.
The Chrome extension (Hyre AI Connector) is on the same card. You need it for LinkedIn. See Connect LinkedIn.
The installed app is the same Hyre as in your browser. What you do in one, you see in the other.
